Men At Arms Observation #2

Why is it so easy to write potential songs for Edward d'Eath? He's just a random minor character. However, this "random minor character" already has two songs before anyone else sings anything. Gah. To remedy the situation, I'm rearranging some of the scenes, creating new scenes, and doing random other stuff to ensure that things remain the way Pterry intended. I'm either going to start off with Vimes, Colon, and Nobby, or Carrot and Edward. Probably Vimes. He gets the title song, after all.

I think the reason I find it so easy to write Edward songs is because Edward is a more malleable character than the Watchmen. We really get to know them from the multitude of books in which they appear, so it feels weird to write them bursting into song. Because he only appears in one book, Edward is easier to manipulate. Plus, he has very definite opinions and really long internal dialogue sequences, which are a songwriter's dream. Gah. Gotta write more.

Current Mood: thoughtful thoughtful
Current Music: nothing, but I have "Masquerade" stuck in my head

From Brenna

Sweet. Men at Arms, the Musical. I can see it on Broadway already. Anyways, can we get some drunken dwarves singing I May Be A Tiny Chimney Sweep? I don't know, but I can see Carrot walking into a dwarf bar and the dwarves are singing raucously at the top of their wee lungs: Oh, I may be a tiny chimney sweep, with a tiny, grimy face, but I got me a broom that makes strong girls weep, so let me up, up, up your fireplace.' Then Carrot gets all embarassed while Angua/Nobby/whoever, just grins at him. Ok, ok, I know that isn't in Men at Arms, but Terry should've added that. Just for me. I don't know, haha.

::snickers:: Other than the remote possibility of a couple bars of "The Hedgehog Song" (not likely, though), I'm using all original stuff. I'm not quite sure the folks responsible for "Blackadder" would be too keen on that. Or Rave, for that matter, who actually went ahead and wrote the song. Plus, I doubt Carrot would take Angua to a dwarf bar.

Also, I'm not planning on adding very many scenes to the show. I'm already having to condense the material, as no one in their right mind (except maybe Vagner fans) will sit for six hours. I've been amusing myself during my free periods at school, merging scenes and rearranging scene order. At the moment, I can only think of one scene that I'm adding to the show. I'm fairly certain that Act I will end with Quirke shutting down the Night Watch and Cuddy and Detritus ending up in the library. It's a pretty nice stopping place. Thank you, Pterry!

::blushes:: I've got to stop spelling things as they're pronounced. Wagner, sorry. ::flails a bit, then leaves::
