Destruction and Despair

Finished the next two in the quasi-Sandman-inspired series for my Digital Design Foundations class! Teh w00t!

Destruction:

My personal favourite so far! Destruction, personified by The Furies. Yay for really big knives! That was an interesting evening of photographing, I can tell you.

Despair:

Blood is disturbingly fun to CG, even though it made me feel physically ill to photomanip my own arm. I never had this problem when I was doing the Remus CG...

EDIT: At the insistence of the commenters, I redid the cuts in the "correct" direction, as if there could be a "correct" direction for cutting one's wrists. *shudders* I worry about you guys sometimes. The original is here, for those curious.

Y'know, I could comment and be all, "You're so cool Priscilla! You're my hero!" but I can't do that because your icon is cruel and unusual. Though, I must say, your revelation about Dom's shirt has given me silly ideas on how to make and send a WILSON IS BETTER THAN LINCOLN shirt to him. Because you KNOW he would wear it.

even though it made me feel physically ill to photomanip my own arm. I never had this problem when I was doing the Remus CG...

Probably because [a] it's a real arm, not Mon's drawing, and [b] it's from wounds of the self-inflicted type.

Just whose side are you on? *plans to send Dom an "Ignore previous shirt; Lincoln is indubitably far more kickass than Wilson any day of the week" shirt.*

The Fury on my far right looks like she has a runny nose. It's still beautiful, though. Damn.

I would never, ever be able to tell you'd done any CG work on the second one. Gorgeous, seamless job. I'm impressed. Again. It never fails.

Destruction is AMAZING, I LOVE IT! All those fabric folds and her hair (along w/ a million other things), they give so much movement to the piece.

Despair is a bit disturbing and totally understandable about the physically ill thing. The only suggestion I would make about it, which is just a suggestion and not needed at all, if you want to go back (though I don't see why you would want to), if you wanted to change anything about it, I'd like to see the picture with the cuts not horizontally (on the arm) but vertical. Iunno, I think that vertical cuts are the cuts of real despair because coagulation occurs MUCH slower with vertical cuts than with horizontal cuts. (And yes, that is a random thing for me to know, I just remember it from reading Judith Guest's book Ordinary People.)

Can I emphasize once more how much I LOVE the Furies? You have such an amazing portfolio, 'Cil!

oh wow. i can understand how the "despair" one made you physically ill... i'm not usually squeamish but that's... yeah. distrubing is a good word. actually, "distrubing" is a typo, but disturbing is a good word for that.
and the "destruction" one is just... really freaking cool.
*sigh* the other night at dinner my mom and i were talking about how we'd hate you if we didn't love you so much because you're SO GOOD at STUFF.
fortunately, we don't hate you, so keep on being good at stuff ^_^

Remember kids, it's not across the street, it's down the road!

The first thing I thought when I saw Despair was "oh, she got the cuts right!" ^^

The Destruction was really... just insert a good synonym for "AWGHWHOWAMAZING".

Slap yourself on the back for a job wonderfully done, Miss Priscilla! Despair looks heart-breakingly tragic. And Destruction... wow. It simply came out lovely, if that's a suitable word to describe Furies with knives. It looks both surreal and professional, and has almost a painting quality to it. Like something that would look fitting in a frame on the wall.

The furies are just beautiful! They do actually look a bit like an old painting for an era that i can't name because i know little about eras. Yeah.
