You can't take this shirt from me

Hah, I keep forgetting I have LJ friends that don't read Cult of Lincoln (or its RSS feed, Abey Baby). To those that do, apologies for the double post.

I finished my Blue Sun shirt last night (oh my aching wrists!) and wore it with pride today. See images one and two, and a third of me channeling River (not that she would ever wear a Blue Sun shirt, considering what she does to all other Blue Sun merchandise on the show). XD

Dad: So what can you tell me about this "Blue Sun"?
Me: Well, it's a massive corporation on the TV show Firefly, the name brand you see everywhere, on foodstuffs and supplies and--
Dad: Like Halliburton?
Me: ...Funny, as I was just about to say "and Rachel and I theorize that it's evil."

*snickets*

In other news, both Cult of Lincoln and The Nine Muses.net have new layouts. Thoughts?

No way! I want one now! Totally awesome job :)

btw.. I think the Firefly fandom has moved past theorizing Blue Sun is evil. It's all pretty certain.

The shirt looks absolutely terrific, though I don't fully comprehend the meaning. Alas! What did you use on it?

Just light grey fabric paint, painted on with a paintbrush, using a stencil I made with cardboard and an x-acto knife. My aching wrists and fingers wish I had access to screenprinting supplies. The shirt I bought on sale at the Gap. XD

Oooh, cardboard? That must have been delightful to cut. Acetate - like overhead transparcencies - work really well for stencils (though if you pull too hard with the knife, they do rip. Tape will keep paint out of the tears, though) and are probably a bit nicer on the wrist.

Sale/secondhand shirts are the best for these things, because they go from being worthless to insanely awesomely cool. Bwahaha!

Both the layout and the shirt are really, really hot. Gah. I'm beginning to think whoever rationed out talent went a little overboard with you.

I'm SO complaining to management XD
