Whatever Happened to Honor?

I present the first song I've written for Men at Arms, "Whatever Happened to Honor". I recorded this yesterday, but I had to pull together the courage to actually post it.

The file is in .mp3 format, 1.3MB, and 1:51 minutes.

For those that haven't read Men at Arms, here's the basic synopsis of the scene. Edward d'Eath, an assassin, is obsessed with lineage and royal succession. He becomes convinced that he has found the heir to the throne of Ankh-Morpork, so he gathers together some of the city's upper class to get their support. Instead, they laugh at him. Edward sings this after they leave.

If you decide to comment (and I certainly hope you do), be gentle. I'm still new at this...

Current Mood: anxious anxious
Current Music: "It's A Dangerous Game", Jekyll and Hyde

From Brenna

OMIGOD! I just listened to Whatever Happened to Honor? IT IS AWESOME! I'm online talking to one of my play buddies (hehe, we're really good friends IRL but in West Side Story he's playing a Jet and I'm a Shark), so I'm sitting here and the entire time I'm like OMIGOD THIS IS AWESOME!

Chickee198: omg
Chickee198: this girl, she's writing a musical to this book I love
Chickee198: i'm downloading a song she wrote for part of it
Bongamonkey: lol
Chickee198: it is awesome
Chickee198: and it's acapella
Bongamonkey: what book?
Chickee198: Men At Arms
Bongamonkey: lol
Bongamonkey: omg I have heard of that
Chickee198: it's by this author who I love
Chickee198: Terry Pratchett
Chickee198: He's awesome
Chickee198: And her song is frickin awesome as well
Bongamonkey: I could have sworn I have heard of that
Bongamonkey: lol
Chickee198: you're prolly thinking of the play we were gonna do for the fall, Man and the Arms, or something like that

I'm making him listen to it now. Hehe. Keep up the good work, girl!
I can't wait til you get more recorded. You're voice is awesome. I'm such a frickin' alto, it's not funny, I can sing male parts. Which I actually do in West Side Story. Worse yet, in Phantom of the Opera (the song) I can sing most of Christine's part and all of the Phantom's part.

BTW, I've seen you like Aida. I saw it in September. It was one of the greatest plays I've seen in my life (even though it was Disneyfied, but I'm a sucker for happy endings.) I love Zoser's songs, despite the fact I hate his character. He's so mean!

Geezah, I'm babbling. Well, thank you for this sunshine in my life, lol. I love Terry's books. I finished Thief of Time the other day. My mum's taking me to the library tomorrow so I can get some more books. Yay for me. And yay for you for that awesome song.

Applauds. That is beautiful. I think you've got a little something going for you there. Kudos. Perhaps I might see you on Broadway someday.

*blinks*

I just realised that I hadn't commented on this, considering I've shared it with my whole family who were as blown away as I was, I should have told you how wonderful you were before I told everyone else ;)

I don't know the book, hardly know the author. But the song is brilliant, it is a perfect musical song, and the tune as well as the words are fabulous. *looks guilty* It makes me want to write a fan fiction based around it. Side effect of loving the song and not knowing the story, me thinks =)

Anyway, the rest of my family would like you to know that as huge Musical fans, we were all stunned at the song. And your vioce. I have trouble imagining a male singing the part, because I can't see anyone singing it but you.
